I only had a week's holiday to take in the summer. I originally thought about going to Cyprus as I had not been since 1996. Then, in April I thought about Egypt.

I had always had an interest in ancient Egypt and, as it was possible to do in a week and with my limited budget, I decided to go for it.

I usually travel alone but this time I was joined with a friend. We ended up visiting Cairo, Luxor and Dahab, a coastal resort on the Sinai peninsular.
